Southwest Hispanic Pastors Begin "Excellence in Ministry" Journey

Pastor Fredy Cordon of Simi Valley, California said it well, "We will do our best to help each other!" This statement describes the atmosphere of care, support and collegiality eleven pastors from the Southwest Hispanic Region experienced who participated in a recent covenant making retreat at the beautiful Alhatti Christian Resort in Idyllwild, California.

This central and southern California Pastoral Covenant Group will meet monthly for the next year as part of the Church of God Theological Seminary's Sustaining Pastoral Excellence project funded by the Lilly Endowment Fund. Veteran pastor and church planter Enrique Orellana is facilitator for the group.

The Seminary's Center for Pentecostal Leadership and Care is partnering with Dr. Fidencio Burgueno, Regional Administrative Bishop, to launch the denominations pastoral leadership development initiative among Hispanic pastors. Pastoral Covenant Group members focus on achieving excellence in ministry by working together on missional goals pertaining to their ministry context and by developing personal pastoral development goals.
