PCG Roofs a Covenant Brother's Church
On a cold weekend in November, Pastor Richard Dial's Pastoral Covenant Group (Eastern
North Carolina) experienced the living reality of "covenant" as they teamed up to
roof a covenant brother's church.
When Pastor Dial's PCG began discussing possibilities for a "Group Missional Action
Goal," the group learned that Pastor Phil Clark's church--the South Raleigh Church of God--was
in need of a roof replacement. (Pastor Clark had been a member of the group, but due to
his return to being bi-vocational, he was no longer able to attend PCG meetings.) The
group immediately went to work devising a plan.
The PCG arrived at South Raleigh on a Friday with 20 volunteers. By Saturday,
40 workers were on the site. Late Monday afternoon, the last shingle was being
trimmed just as it started to rain. The work had been completed.
Pastor Clark relates, "The South Raleigh congregation is extremely grateful to
God and to the Pastoral Covenant Group members and their congregations; we are
grateful for their vision and compassion toward a sister church."
This project is one example of missional actions that Phase Four Pastoral Covenant
Groups are taking. To share your project story, email it to:
