What Is the Center for Pentecostal Leadership & Care?
The purpose of the Center for Pentecostal Leadership and Care is to
cultivate and sustain pastoral excellence and holistic ministry leadership in
all areas of church life. This
purpose is being pursued in the following ways:
- Conducting pastoral leadership research
- Publishing well-researched and context relevant print and Internet
pastoral leadership resources
- Development of national network of pastoral covenant groups
- Identification and training of pastoral coaches and mentors
- Providing ministry consultants to pastors and congregations
- Partnership with congregations, pastors, districts, and denominational
leaders to provide clergy assessment, renewal, and formation
experiences
- Collaborate with national, international foundations, pastoral
development projects in order to serve the needs of the larger Pentecostal
movement and Christian community
Our Vision of Pastoral Excellence
We believe excellence in pastoral ministry involves
- Consistent practice of spiritual disciplines
- Maintenance of the pastor's physical, emotional, family, and financial
health
- Ministering and leading in community with other pastors and
believers
- Effectively preaching and teaching the Word
- Discipling, giving compassionate care, and providing spiritual direction
for searching and hurting people.
- Effectively leading and administering people in local church
ministry
- Multiplication of ministry through mentoring and coaching others in
a shared journey of development
Core Values
- Our goal is to cultivate and sustain Excellence in
Pentecostal (Pastoral) ministry.
- We believe Formation is more important than
information.
- We are developing a Healthy Process (not offering
a program).
- Covenant relationships of peer accountability, care,
and resourcing are essential to pastoral excellence and, thus, Pastoral
Covenant Groups are the heart of our pastoral development model.
- Pastor-centered and pastor-directed
curriculum is our method.
- We will exercise Facilitative leadership by mentoring,
coaching, and resourcing pastors, congregations, and church leadership.
- We are committed to Collaboration and
Consultation with denominational leaders, pastoral research
projects, and other seminaries and institutions serving the interest of pastoral
excellence.
- We believe Healthy Pastors develop
Healthy Congregations.
- We are committed to producing and recommending Context
relevant and Pentecostal friendly resources.
- Healthy Evaluation practices are essential to effectiveness.
